Judge Judy, how could you?

I’m probably the last to know about this, but Judge Judy is in favor of gay marriage:

From a NY Times article on Michael Feinstein’s new Sinatra album:

The walls of his town house are plastered with vintage movie posters and photographs that lend the home he shares with his companion of 11 years, Terrence Flannery, the feel of a lively show business museum (with elegant furniture). He and Mr. Flannery, who owns health facilities in Indiana, are planning to be married on Oct. 17 in Los Angeles with their friend Judith Sheindlin, better known as Judge Judy, officiating. She will be assisted by Gabriel Ferrer, an Episcopal priest and a son of Rosemary Clooney. Ms. Clooney, who was a mother figure to Mr. Feinstein and to many other musicians, was the biggest influence on his style.

And whaddya know, the Episcopal Church is also involved! Who’d have guessed . . . Feinstein and Flannery are set to pretend to be married on National Black Poetry Day.

Good thing they didn’t ask you first.

Should you get the chance to have a real effect, I dare you to meet some gay couples and get to know their side before you go voting on how they’re allowed to spend their lives that have nothing to do with you.

I wish there were an initiative to ban the “right” to be ignorant and intolerant. At least that sort of thing does affect the voter.

How people spend their lives is their business. Gay marriage is not about “preventing” men from living with and screwing each other. It is about the government giving such arrangements its imprimatur, with all the benefits that such legitimation brings. That’s a public question, and yes, I should be asked about it first (along with every other voter).

Just by the way, you have a penetrating mind. Ban the right to be ignorant . . . hahaha! That’s great. Such a comment reveals a mind that looks to government coercion for all fixes. How tolerant!

    Have a nice day.

I’m glad that you and those like you are fading away from this country like the moral dinosaurs you are. We evolve, we grow, we leave you behind.

Good on Judge Judy for keeping the focus on fixing our real problems, not the ones falsely generated by hatemongers.

  4. Curly Says:

Fading away, hmm. Not sure what liberal bubble you are living in.

“Moral dinosaurs” is a good one. Sure . . . you moral evolutionaries think you have a right to destroy your children in utero. You know, I think that’s been proven to cause populations to fade away.

so wait a minute. marriage is suppose to be between a man and a woman. but sexual intercouse is too. and there are other things that primarity focus on just heteros. so if u had to change gay marriage to civil unions wouldnt that mean u would also have to change gay sex or gay love or whatever to other words cuz according to conservatives it would “devalue” the sanctity of that word. and then if u change so many things just based on someones orientation, then ur discriminating just like blacks and whites used to be separate based off skin color

  6. akork Says:

Curly the government is not allowed to distribute rights unequally to the population and with government marriage licences come certain rights that are not afforded to those who are not married. Under the 14th amendment the government cannot, constitutionally, discriminate in marriage between two consenting adults. There are two solutions to this. Either the government gets out of the marriage buisness entierly and leaves social contracts such as marriage in the hands of the people OR the government recognizes same-sex marriage and affords same-sex couples the same rights under the law as heterosexual couples.
